DTP & Artwork Localization

Desktop publishing is an integral part of the localization cycle for documentation. A product's literature, whether this consists of printed or online manuals, leaflets, guides, technical specifications, legal documents or any relevant publication, must first be translated into the target language or languages and then processed for online or printed publishing.

ORCO's desktop publishing department counts more than 20 years of operation, in which time we have processed tens of thousands of pages and we have completed projects for companies such as Nokia, Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Epson, HTC, Ideal Standard, Ideal Electronics and Zoll.

Our desktop publishing department is fully equipped to handle the full localization cycle for documentation covering all stages from the initial analysis, planning and cost estimation to text and graphics extraction for CAT-aided translation to the processing of translated content in the original DTP applications and to the final layout checking and signoff.

The main desktop publishing applications we use are Adobe CS4 Design Premium (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Acrobat), Adobe Frame Maker, Quark Express  and Pagemaker  - all of the above on a PC/Windows platform.

Our desktop publishing services include:

    • Extraction of text and graphics from various file formats and conversion to translation friendly formats for CAT tool processing
    • Layout formatting
    • Screen capture
    • Art makeup, adaptation and localization
    • Creation of online PDF and printable Postscript files
